Infographic | Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Personal protective equipment, or PPE, is designed to protect workers from workplace injuries and illnesses. Though personal protective equipment is generally considered the last line of defense, OSHA requires that employers assess the workplace for hazards and determine the appropriate PPE needed for worker protection. Employers are required to provide PPE to workers and ensure the equipment is used and properly maintained.

As a reminder of the need to protect workers with PPE, we have created an Infographic visual overview of common protective equipment used in the workplace. The document shows the basic types of PPE safety protection that employers and workers need to consider while performing a hazard assessment:

  • Head Protection
  • Hearing Protection
  • Body Protection
  • Foot & Leg Protection
  • Eye and Face Protection
  • Respiratory Protection
  • Hand Protection
