Hit Hard | April 20th: Virtual Stand-Down to Prevent Struck-By Incidents

The first National Stand-Down to Prevent Struck-By Incidents in Construction will be held virtually online next week. The one-hour stand-down will occur on April 20th during National Work Zone Awareness Week. You can register online for the event in order to ask questions and hear from experts about working safely in work zones and preventing struck-by incidents.

The Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR) has created instructions for How to Hold a Stand-Down responsibly during this COVID-19 pandemic and how to get certificates for participation. Employers are encouraged to think creatively and avoid gathering in groups in order to share free stand-down resources, such as infographics, toolbox talks and videos, with employees.

Struck-by incidents are one of the leading hazards for construction workers which may lead to serious injuries or death. The goal of the virtual event is to raise employee awareness of work zone hazards and to mitigate those hazards.
