Who Should Take This Course?
Our online Laboratory Bloodborne Pathogens training (Needle Sharps Course) is designed for individuals, ranging in scientific ability from novice to expert, who work in laboratory areas or who work with small quantities of hazardous materials (<100L). The training covers common laboratory safety procedures and best practices to ensure personal and co-worker safety, including determination of risk of exposure, prevention of personal and third party contamination, and procedures if exposure should occur. The course also outlines the components of a successful needle sharps program, and methods to properly treat contaminated surfaces and waste.
The course contains legally required training information, to assist employers with compliance of the following legislation:
- 29 CFR 1910.1030 – Bloodborne pathogens
- 29 CFR 1904.8 – Recording criteria for needlestick and sharps injuries
- 29 CFR 1904.9 – Recording criteria for cases involving medical removal under OSHA standards
- 29 CFR 1910.1027 App F – Non-mandatory Protocol for Biological Monitoring
