HAZWOPER History | Hazardous Waste Regulations Infographic

Most HAZWOPER workers have heard about the EPA standards RCRA, CERCLA (AKA Superfund), SARA and of course the OSHA HAZWOPER standard. All of these standards were implemented in order to protect the environment, the public, and/or workers from the effects of hazardous waste.

We have put together a timeline of the major hazardous waste regulations to provide users with an easy, quick reference showing:

  • What do these hazardous waste related acronyms stand for?
  • What did each of these standards do or accomplish?
  • When were these hazardous waste regulations implemented?
