Delaware is not a Plan State and does not have their own occupational safety and health program that has been federally approved. Due to this, workers in Delaware must comply with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) / Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) federal workplace safety and health regulations for hazardous waste operations and emergency response. Workers who handle hazardous materials are required per the federal government to take an initial 24 hour or 40 hour HAZWOPER training course, in addition to annual refresher training.
