The term "HAZWOPER Certification" generally refers to a 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certificate of Course Completion that is provided by a training provider after the course is finished. Our 40 Hour HAZWOPER training provides students with their HAZWOPER certification online, through a downloadable certificate that can be saved or printed immediately upon completion of the course.

It is a common misconception that OSHA provides OSHA Certification for HAZWOPER courses. OSHA does not recommend, approve, certify, or endorse HAZWOPER training programs.

OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER training courses can be completed either online or in the classroom.

Regardless of how or where you complete your 40 Hr HAZWOPER training, it's imperative that workers get hands-on ppe training with the actual protective equipment that will be used on the job. Companies should provide job- or site- specific and equipment training whether classroom or online HAZWOPER training is completed. Our 40 Hour HAZWOPER Online training course provides detailed video demonstrations of proper equipment and tool use.

If you completed the course through HazMat Student, you can log into your student account at any time to download a copy of your past course certificates. Alternatively, contact your previous training provider or any employer to whom you gave a copy, and request they provide you with a new copy.

Workers who require 24 or 40 Hr HAZWOPER training need to complete an annual HAZWOPER 8 Hour Refresher course to stay up-to-date with their training requirements. If it's been more than 12 months, the needed course should be taken at the next opportunity. If substantial time has lapsed over the 12 month mark, repeating the initial 24 or 40 hour course may be warranted.
